TÜV Rheinland and Sunny Optical Research Institute formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement and unveiled their joint laboratory

On October 14, 2025, TÜV Rheinland—a world-leading independent third-party testing, inspection and certification organization—and Sunny Optical Research Institute formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement at TÜV Rheinland Shanghai InnoHub, and unveiled the Joint Laboratory for XR Testing Technology Sharing.This collaboration initiative marks the integration of both parties’ advantageous resources to jointly explore and push the boundaries of AR/VR testing capabilities. It will deepen collaboration in areas such as XR testing and certification, joint standard development, and human factors engineering, with a commitment to advancing the industry’s safety and quality standards.The establishment of this strategic partnership will further strengthen their influence in the fast-growing XR sector. Through collaborative innovation, it will provide more comprehensive and reliable testing and certification solutions for clients in consumer electronics, drones, intelligent algorithms, and other fields, collectively shaping the industry’s future.

Exploring TÜV Rheinland Germany – Openness Driving Tech Innovation”

On the afternoon of June 10, the S-DREAM “Exploring TÜV Rheinland Germany” technology exchange event was successfully held in Shanghai.

With the rapid development of XR products and technologies, industry demand for XR testing and combined subjective-objective evaluation continues to grow. To gain deeper and more precise insights into the needs of XR manufacturers and end-users, S-Dream Lab and TÜV Rheinland Germany have reached an agreement on the strategic development of a Joint XR Testing Technology Sharing Lab. This collaboration aims to drive the sustainable growth of the XR industry through technical cooperation and resource sharing.

Mr. Liu expressed appreciation for the collaborative achievements in technical research between both parties, and warmly welcomed the technology exchange initiative.

Mr. Yin expressed gratitude to TÜV Rheinland Germany for their support in previous technical collaborations. ‘Building upon the solid foundation established through our multiple successful cooperations, we look forward to exploring more innovative collaboration models in the future, which will lay the groundwork for expanding both the depth and breadth of our partnership,’ he stated.”

The exchange session focused on multiple core topics in XR technology, including display evaluation, testing equipment, human factor experiments, and color certification, attracting active participation from technical experts and representatives of both organizations.

In conclusion, Mr. Yin, Consultant of S-Dream Lab, and Mr. Liu, General Manager of TÜV Rheinland Germany, delivered joint closing remarks, expressing their shared vision and aspirations for XR industry collaboration.

They emphasized that technical exchanges within the industry serve as a vital catalyst for technological advancement – facilitating knowledge sharing, sparking innovative ideas, and maximizing industry achievements through complementary competencies.

Complement each other’s advantages and create a benchmark

On April 25, 2024, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (hereinafter referred to as “CAICT”) and Sunny Optical Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as “Sunny Optical”) held a signing and unveiling ceremony for the joint construction agreement of the Extended Reality (XR) Evaluation Laboratory. Mr. Wei Ran, Chief Engineer of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and Mr. Wang Wenjie, Executive Director and Executive Vice President of Sunny Optical Group, attended the event and witnessed the signing. The ceremony was presided over by Li Chuanfeng, deputy chief engineer of the Terminal Laboratory of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.

Wei Ran, chief engineer of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and Wang Wenjie, Executive Director and executive vice president of Sunny Optical Group, jointly unveiled the plaque for the Extended Reality (XR) Evaluation Joint Laboratory.

Liu Chang, deputy director of the Business Development Department of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, and Jiang Kunjun, the person in charge of S-Dream Lab of Sunny Optical Research Institute, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

The Extended Reality (XR) Evaluation Joint Laboratory aims to leverage the strengths of both parties, use evaluation as a bridge, develop extended reality evaluation system solutions, provide more diverse testing and verification methods for the research and development of extended reality devices, promote the continuous improvement of extended reality product performance, bring users a more ultimate user experience, and promote the sustainable development of the extended reality industry.

China Academy of Information and Communications Technology – Terminal Laboratory of TEL

CTTL-Terminals, affiliated with the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, is a core laboratory under the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. As a national authoritative testing institution, it is a high-tech organization in the field of information and communication that integrates technology development research, product standard and test method formulation, as well as the testing, verification and technical evaluation of domestic and foreign products. For many years, the laboratory has adhered to the development orientation of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology as a “National high-end professional think tank and Industrial innovation development platform” and the core cultural value concept of “Virtue, Learning, Business Development and long-term Vision”, and has been dedicated to the testing and certification work in the fields of terminals, software and related areas.

S-DREAM Laboratory

As a pioneer in the professional XR evaluation field, since its establishment in 2018, it has been dedicated to the research and development of professional testing equipment and the optimization of standardized evaluation processes, providing industry-oriented XR evaluation system solutions. It has accumulated in-depth technical experience in the performance testing and calibration of XR products. S-Dream Lab will continue to provide the XR industry with a full range of XR evaluation and calibration equipment, complete evaluation laboratory solutions, and professional evaluation and consulting services, providing strong support for the development of the XR industry.

A new look for the New Year|The relocation of the Shanghai Branch of Sunny Research Institute

On January 12, 2024, the Shanghai Branch of Sunny Optical Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Platform”) held a moving-in ceremony. Dong Kewu, Vice President of the group, Zhang Benhao, Director of the Intelligent Vision Technology Research Institute of Sunny Optical Research Institute, Xu Feng, assistant General Manager of Sunny Intelligent Leading Technology, Yu Yongtao, Director of Sunny Optical Automotive Optics Development, and other relevant representatives attended the moving-in ceremony.

In his speech, General Manager Dong pointed out that the Shanghai platform has brought together R&D personnel from various subsidiaries, making it more advantageous and engaging in discussions. He hopes that under the implementation of the group’s platformization strategy, a better office environment and facilities can be created for employees, thereby generating greater value.

Amidst the cheers and applause of the friends, the Shanghai platform held a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony.
